5. Short Title: Identification of Cats
6. (a) Summary of what the rule says and the effect of the rule on those regulated:
This rule clarifies forms of identification that a town must require if the governing body votes to license cats in a similar manner as it licenses dogs.
The former rule expired on June 24, 2011. If the rule were not adopted again, there would be no rule further clarifying types of identification allowed by statute. In the event that a town voted to require identification of cats, there would be no clear standards for types of identification.

The rules affect towns that vote to require cat licensing.
